U8-U9
TRAINING TIME: 1 hour 30 minutes
At this stage in the development sequence, ages 8-9, should have similarities to the previous stage but adding further complexity (i.e., incorporating deceptive dribbling skills prior to the actual skill; fake strike step- over instead of a step over).
This will motivate the player to beat an opponent with skill rather than kick and chase. Dribbling a direct opponent is an essential factor as it will always create a an advantage when attacking and, therefore, easier to outplay the other team. It is vital to give freedom to each player and allow them to express themselves and show their newly learned ball mastery (technical) skills in the game.
Golden Boot Apprentice
U10-U11
TRAINING TIME: 1 hour 30 minutes.
During this stage in the development sequence, ages 10-11, the player should have obtained a
significant level of comfort with a ball no matter the situation they are placed in. To further prepare each of our players for successful competition, we will explore all of the principles of play both individually and as a team in a 7v7 formation. We will focus on how the individual roles fit seamlessly into the team tactics of the game. During this stage a more detailed focus will be placed on when and how to penetrate
(dribble or pass) with creativity, proper support for the ball (back, right, left and through), 2nd and 3rd man runs with combination play for a mobile attack and spreading a defense from touchline to touchline (width) to open up space in the middle. This will be an introduction to our attacking style of play (thecombination of possession with a purpose and total football). To ensure we are creating a balanced approach we will continue to focus on defensive team shape and getting number behind the ball (coverand balance), we will begin to explore when to press and to stay compact as a team.
Golden Boot Apprentice
U12-U13
TRAINING TIME: 1 hour 30 minutes.
Once the Golden Boot Academy players have reached the age of 12- 13, they enter the second stage of our training method. This is the age at which many of the young players are faced with accelerated physical growth. This is also a significant age group because actual matches play a larger role. Boys and girls of these age groups already have more strength and speed and can move the ball over long distances. Youngsters in the 12 to 13 age group have already undergone four years of Golden Boot Academy training (excluding pre-academy training). Enjoyably, they have already learned a great deal about making choices during the game. The most stringent criteria are applied to the players in the second year of the Under 13 level.
